Development, Releases, and Technology
hinto-janaiyo has released Gupax v1.0.0, a cross-platform GUI that helps with configuring, updating, and managing P2Pool and XMRig. Simply put, you can use Gupax to mine Monero on P2Pool with XMRig. This makes it even easier to get started mining at home and secure the Monero network. Links to the downloads, documentation, and code can be found here.
koe has put forward a long-term proposal to continue the development of Seraphis. koe outlines that time will be “spent on miscellaneous Monero R&D tasks and working with Monero devs on seraphis library reviews and PRs. I may also update the seraphis library to replace BP+2 with BP++ at some point”. More information can be found here.
LocalMonero/AgoraDesk has released v1.0.42 for their mobile apps. It includes features such as a new way of delivering push notifications and displaying a sticky bubble for big screens. Release notes and download links can be found here.
Cake Wallet has released Cake Wallet v4.5.5 and Monero.com wallet v1.2.4. You can find links to the downloads and updates here.
Popular Monero metrics website Moneroj.net will start tracking and recording Binance’s Monero withdrawal status in a chart. You can now also see Binance’s Monero withdrawal status on the Moneroj.net homepage. Since launching the metric, we can already observe Binance has halted XMR withdrawals on two separate occasions. Remember, “not your keys, not your coins!”
plowsof posted their first CCS Coordinator progress report. This includes moderating community meetings regarding CCS proposals, testing the official Monero wallets, and helping organize the audit of Bulletproofs++. Check out their report here.
PSA: It is highly recommended you run a node to help secure the Monero network. Monero Magazine, a new Monero-focused news-sharing website, published its second episode and features Justin Ehrenhofer, long-time Monero community member and VP of Operations at Cake Wallet. They discuss things such as the adoption of Monero on darknet markets, Bitcoin’s privacy, and Chainalysis. Check out the video below.

The second-ever Monerotopia conference is taking place in Mexico City on May 6-7th 2023. Monerotopia is a conference for privacy, tech, and freedom enjoyers. They already have an amazing lineup of confirmed speakers which includes a variety of Monero developers and contributors. After the successful return of Monero Konferenco in 2022, the ‘MoneroKon’ 2023 Conference will be held at La Fabrika in Prague, Czech Republic on the 23rd-25th of June 2023. MoneroKon is an annual meeting of privacy advocates, cypherpunks, scientists, and philosophers and is designed to disseminate scientific and technical results in privacy and financial technologies like censorship-resistant digital cash. Privacy-focused exchange aggregator Trocador.app provided an update since its launch just over two months ago. Trocador has completed over 2000 trades and claims they will help users in the chance you have a problem with your chosen exchange! They also offer an onion version of the website. AllArk now allows customers to buy gaming consoles with XMR via their website. There have been recent comments (here and here) on the Monero subreddit regarding the legitimacy of AllArk, so if it is a service you wish to use it is recommended you do your own research and proceed with caution, or consider an alternative.

MadXMR is selling a Monero-themed coffee table! The coffee table features the Monero logo and is constructed with epoxy on Irish Cyprus wood. It is for sale for $900 plus shipping costs. Detailed information can be found here or here.
Several crowdfunding proposals are awaiting community feedback before they can start accepting funds through the Community Crowdfunding System (CCS). For now, they are just proposals, but if they receive some positive feedback from the community they will be moved to a “Funding Required” stage so that they can accept Monero donations through the CCS.
There are no CCS Projects that require funding at the moment, however you can still support the Monero Project by donating to the Monero General Fund.
Trading & Speculation
On the XMR/BTC daily chart, there is a possible formation of a bullish pennant.
Additionally, the XMR/USD yearly chart appears to be printing a bullish pennant.
On the XMR/BTC monthly chart, Monero is primed for its highest monthly close since November 2020.
XMR/BTC is about to see the 50 week SMA cross above the 150 week SMA for the first time since April 2019. There's a high possibility a golden cross (50 SMA crossing the 200 SMA) will occur in Q1 2023.
CoinTelegraph provided technical analysis on XMR/USDT.
Monero is the second best performing coin for 2022 so far this year, hanging in there better than others. XMR has only had a -37% drawdown, compared to BTC's -64% and AVAX's -89%.
