Monero Observer provided a fantastic summary of the Monero Research Lab meeting held on May 15, 2024. The meeting included updates on various ongoing projects and open discussions. Key updates included work on Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMPs), implementing curve trees in C++ for FCMPs, and monitoring transaction patterns on the blockchain. Discussions addressed potential measures against black marble attacks, with a notable rise in specific transaction types linked to LocalMonero's cessation. There was also a detailed discussion on Pre-Seraphis FCMP research, focusing on input systems and the trade-offs between wasted work and space. The group agreed to move forward with an audit proposal for FCMP-RCT composition, including a forward secrecy property. For full details, refer to the Monero Observer’s MRL meeting summary, where you can also find the raw chat log.
Haveno has released version 1.0.5 with significant updates, including Tor improvements, fixes for the backup function, and various bug resolutions. Haveno is a decentralized exchange specifically designed for Monero, allowing users to trade XMR against various other cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies securely and privately. Users can download the installer for Linux, macOS, or Windows, or build from source. For the best performance, running a local Monero node is recommended due to potential Tor network slowness. Full details and installation instructions are available on their GitHub page.
HardenedSteel and retoaccess1 launched the first two public Haveno networks on Monero's mainnet, just 48 hours after the quick start guide was published. HardenedSteel's "haveno-mainnet" and retoaccess1's "haveno-reto" offer different fee structures, attracting traders to test the software with pre-built binaries or by cloning repositories. While the Monero community appreciates the initiative, there are concerns about the potential chaos from multiple fragmented Haveno networks. HardenedSteel has temporarily stopped working on their Haveno network. Users are advised to trade cautiously and use small amounts.
Nihilist has written a guide for Haveno DEX Direct Fiat to Monero transactions using the Face-to-Face (F2F) payment method. The tutorial covers the setup and execution of a Fiat to Monero trade on the decentralized Haveno exchange, emphasizing the importance of security deposits and the role of arbitrators in ensuring fair trades. It also includes detailed steps for installing Haveno, setting up accounts, and completing transactions. While F2F is not the recommended payment method, this guide provides valuable insights into using Haveno DEX for direct trades.
Bald Eagle has put forward a proposal that aims to create and manage a peer-to-peer trading room on Matrix for Monero enthusiasts to buy and sell Monero for fiat with no KYC. This room will leverage Matrix's secure, decentralized communication platform, accessible via Tor and various clients, to provide a private and user-friendly trading environment. The initiative is positioned as a crucial on/off-ramp solution amidst increasing restrictions on Monero trading by major exchanges. Community feedback has been mixed, with some members supporting the concept and others questioning the proposed costs and feasibility.

The project includes milestones for developing Monero wallet integration, supporting direct payments, and implementing a moderation system to prevent fraud. For more information, including demos and detailed plans, visit the Mobazha website and related links.

Meowing Cat has proposed the Monero Poker Infrastructure Project, aiming to develop and enhance a Monero-based poker game platform named PokerUnicorn. The project includes a game server and client, supporting Monero deposits and simultaneous gameplay across multiple games. Meowing Cat, a self-taught full-stack software engineer and game developer, has already published the game server and client repositories. The proposal seeks funding for full-time development to improve and add more features to the game. Community feedback has been positive, noting the working prototype, and further discussions are scheduled to address market needs and differentiation from existing platforms like xmr.poker. Check it out and play the PokerUnicorn demo here.

Trading and Speculation
On the daily XMR/USD chart, the price has reached the upper boundary of the Ichimoku cloud. A close and consolidation above this cloud would indicate continued bullish momentum for XMR.
RizeSenpai says that despite XMR being delisted from Binance, it has shown resilience by holding above a crucial price level. During the delisting, XMR saw significant sell-offs, but the support level remained intact, suggesting potential accumulation. The price has since stagnated, hinting at a possible upward trend as the bearish trend appears to be ending.
